Top 10 Tuesday: Favorite Bookish Couples

Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl!

As later this week is Valentine’s day, this week’s topic is love themed: favorite couples in books. This is a fun topic and was easy for me to come up with a full list. So many great bookish love stories out there. It was hard to narrow it down to 10. Enjoy!

Jo March and Laurie // Little Women
Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy // Pride and Prejudice
Anne Elliott and Captain Wentworth // Persuasion
America Singer and Maxon Schreave // The Selection Series
Estella Everstone and Dexter Blakeley // The Captive Imposter
Marianne Daventry and Philip Wyndham // Edenbrooke
Henry Lee and Keiko Okabe // Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
Ani and Geric // The Goose Girl
Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blithe // Anne of Green Gables Series
Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley // Harry Potter series

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Who are your favorite bookish couples?

  1. Awww Jo March and Laurie! I totally wanted them to end up together and was heatbroken when they didn’t.

Anne & Gilbert are a definite favorite too! They are the perfect example of the hate to love trope done right!

I totally did NOT like Harry and Ginny getting together… Harry and Hermoine totally ended up together in my mind lol

    1. Thank you! I love Harry and Ginny’s relationship in the books. I think it’s so fun to see their relationship change from Ginny’s crush to their first kiss. The movies really mess it up for me.

I love Ron and Hermione too–I just wanted to pick one so I could include other books. Haha.

It is interesting for me when I think of couples: I never seem to think of book couples automatically. Musical theatre couples are the ones that automatically come to mind.I can find it hard at times to find book couples- especially if they are a subtle part of the book.

Bookish couples I love (hmmm- some of I originally fell in love with by another source such as movie or musical theatre): can’t seem to think of many bookish ones

Elphaba and Fiyero, Mimi and Roger, Belle and Beast, Nala and Simba, Katherine and Jack, Cosette and Marius, Christine and Raoul- among others. Romance, after all, is the most common theme in musical theatre.

One of the main things that make me fall in love with a musical theatre couple are their main song. Other factors show up at times, but mostly is main song.
