Happy July, my friends!
We are officially half way through 2018, and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone!
What a great, bookish June I had! Loving what I’m reading, reviewing and collecting š
I finished 10 books. This was a huge month for me!
I continued making progress in Emma; I’m just about half way through.
I reviewed 7 books.
Beyond All Dreams by Elizabeth Camden
A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall
Little Dorrit, Part 2 by Charles Dickens
Daring Greatly by BrenƩ Brown
Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson
Holes by Louis Sachar
July promises to be another great reading month! We will be trying to avoid the crazy heat so there will be good time for reading indoors š
Finish Emma by Jane Austen.
Looking back on my 2018 Reading Goals, there are a few goals I have yet to start this year (oops). So this month, I want to start moving towards a few more of those!
One of my goals was to reread the Lord of the Rings series. I finished The Hobbit earlier this year, and this month I am hoping to read The Fellowship of the Ring.
Another goal I have is to read 5 books from my shelves that I haven’t read before. So far, I have read 1 (Beyond All Dreams last month)! This month, I hope to read 2.
As I always like to read a few books just because, here a few books that are on my Top TBR this month.
What are y’all reading this month?
One of these days I’d like to read Emma as well.

I read Holes and Savvy a long time ago it seems, but I remember loving them. I try to read all the Newbery and Honor books I can. I just finished reading Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo and enjoyed this book. I’m in the process of reading new authors to me right now and am enjoying finding new talent to turn to for hours of fun.

That’s awesome! I have been on a Newbery kick lately and loving everything I read. Kate DiCamillo is a favorite of mine! I haven’t read that one yet–I’ll have to check it out! What are some of your favorite Newberys?

I’ve avoided Go Set A Watchman. I’m not sure why I’ve avoided it, I’m not one of those people that love love loves To Kill A Mockingbird, but the whole story around the book’s publication and release bothered me.

I’ve kind of done the same thing, although not intentionally. The publication was a bit strange. But I am intrigued enough to give it a go (plus I bought it for $2 at Half Price Books recently so it’s on my mind again!)

Definitely worth it for that price. Canāt fault you there.

Awesome reading month Jane! I’ve always wondered, is A Walk to Remember as gut wrenching as the movie? Ahhhh it kills me!
I read the Girl with the Pearl Earring YEARS ago, but remember really enjoying it. I have a soft spot for authors that give us fictionalized back stories to famous pieces of art.

Thanks, Amanda! It was a good one š
I must admit that I prefer the movie to the book on AWTR which surprises me. Something about Mandy Moore, right?
That’s awesome on GWAPE. I wonder if you have other recommendations of books about famous pieces of art? š

I enjoyed The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan. It gives a back story to the famous sculpture The Little Dancer Aged Fourteen by Edgar Degas. It has some pretty mixed reviews though. I listened to it via audiobook and found it fascinating.

EXACTLY. I will admit, my whole team is on vacation next week Friday. I’m honestly debating taking a day off to do nothing but read. There’s nothing wrong with that, right? š

I challenged myself to read all six Jane Austen novels last year. I’d never read any before and was surprised by how much I did enjoy them although a couple did seem verrrry slooow!
I’m sure I’ve read the Louis Sachar Holes too. Will see if your review jogs my memory š

That is an amazing goal!! I love that! Yes, there are novels that move faster than others. My favorites lately are Sense and Sensibility and Emma. Although I do adore P&P and Persuasion. Its been a while since I’ve read MP or NA. I should pick those up again soon!

LOTR is one of my all-time favorites. I also really enjoyed Holes when I read it! Go Set A Watchman was just okay to me; I’ll be curious to hear what you think. I wanted more but it was worthwhile to read, for sure. You really did have a good reading month! Happy July!

Thank you! Its been years since I read LOTR. Definitely an all time favorite of mine as well. I hear mixed things about GSAW. I can appreciate that it wasn’t her first published work. But I am intrigued by it all the same š Thank you! You too!
