Top 10 Tuesday: Why I love Holes in the Wall

Welcome back to a new week of Top 10 Tuesday hosted by the lovely ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s theme is Ten Reasons I Love X (basically pick any topic we love and gush about it!). I had to think for a minute about what I wanted to write about.

I have raved about all sorts of books on these Top 10 Tuesday posts.

And I have talked about some of my reasons for loving reading here.

So I thought I would focus on one of my favorite kind of bookish places–hole in the wall bookstores. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good Barnes and Noble. And libraries really are wonderful places too. But there is just something about those one of a kind bookstores.

That old building and old book smell // There is something about how these places smell. It’s just special and just yummy. I can’t get enough of it.

Different sized rooms // Rooms in hole in the wall book stores often have great rooms that are all different sizes and have so much character and charm.

Discovering where my favorite genres are located // I love the search for the classics, fiction, children’s lit, travel, and cookery. I love wandering through to find my favorites.

Finding books I love and looking through the editions // I love seeing different editions of classics and contemporary favorites.

Children’s books sections // Hole in the wall bookstores always have great children’s sections with darling displays and great books

Books piled on the stairs, in corners, all over // I love when there are too many books and no enough shelves.

Eccentric bookstore owners // Cool people own bookstores. Seriously.

Names of these bookstores // From The Old English Bookstore to The 39 room Bookstore, I love learning the names of these fun places.

Carrying around too many books to buy then settling on one or two // I really love carrying potential books to buy around. Then I have to talk myself down 🙂

The books themselves // There’s nothing I love more than to seeing so many books in one place. And being able to browse for as long as I want.

What do you love about hole in the wall bookstores?

  1. ahhhhhhh!!! I’m clapping I love this post so much! 🙂 You are so right about all of this – especially the children’s book section. Now I want to go find a hole in the wall bookstore and get lost in it for a while! P.S. – you would be so much fun to travel with to all of these bookish destinations 🙂 My TTT
