[Sweater Weather]: A Series Review

Hello, everyone!

Please excuse my extended hiatus through the middle of November. Earlier this month, I received some sad news — the passing of a dear friend of mine from cancer. I was able to attend her funeral and celebrate her amazing life. In so many ways, she was a mentor, a friend, a confidant, a supporter, and a surrogate mother when mine was far away. I will miss her terribly. If you are the praying type, I appreciate prayers in behalf of her family especially her daughter who is a dear friend of mine as well. It’s fitting today that I am sharing a review of a series she and I both love.

Today I am so excited to share my review of Sweater Weather, a new fantastic series of fall sweet romcoms. These seven books are written by seven amazing authors: Emma St. Clair, Melanie Jacobson, Courtney Walsh, Julie Christianson, Carina Taylor, Savannah Scott, and Jenny Proctor. If you’ve been here before, you know I’m a BIG fan of Emma, Jenny, Melanie and Courtney. (I can give you a list a mile long of all their novels that I recommend 🙂 ) And I am now eager to read more from Julie, Carina and Savannah. What a treat to read a series from so many talented authors!

Each book can be read as a stand alone novel but they do make references back and forth to other characters from the series (and from a few characters in their other books). All seven authors set their books in the same cozy town, Harvest Hollow, which is full of all the best fall traditions, apple treats, and so much swoony romance. I loved this series!

I absolutely loved Harvest Hollow and the cozy fall traditions throughout the series. I want to visit Harvest Hollow or better yet live there! It’s a cozy small town with so many fun traditions. The whole main street is decorated for the fall season. We have apple donuts, apple turnovers, apple pie, all the apple treats! Trips to the local pumpkin patch and corn maze. Sweaters and scarves and cocoa. All the changing leaves and crisp fall weather. The most darling bookstore that also sells baked goods (I want to live there!). The local farmers market that sounds incredible! The local minor league hockey team that features especially in two of the novels. And the pinnacle of the Harvest Hollow autumnal experience — the Harvest Festival full of holiday magic. I loved getting to know different people in this town and seeing them all fall in love during my favorite time of the year.

I loved getting to know the characters in this series. They felt like friends by the end of each book. I loved seeing Parker connect with the hockey team and how they all call her Boss. I loved Jolie’s determination to succeed and how she finds love in unexpected places. I loved bookish Emmy and the way her story felt like You’ve Got Mail (one of my favorites!). I loved the dates Hadley goes on and how she stays true to herself. I loved seeing Hazel in her element in the garage and how surprised she is to find love. I loved Tasha’s passion for books and her loyalty to her family. And I loved Gracie’s passion for music and her journey to reconnect and reconsider decisions to give her a chance at love. All of these protagonists are vibrant, strong, successful women. But they also have to work through problems, overcome disappointments and difficult pasts, work through sincere loss, and find true happiness amidst difficult circumstances and relationships with family or other friends. They are very relatable as they work through problems, insecurities, doubts and decisions. I appreciated that about them. And I loved seeing them find their happily ever afters.

The romance is swoony, clean and so much fun! I loved how each author was able to create a unique love story in this cozy town. We have a hockey player falling in love with the girl next door. A bookshop owner falling (again) for a fireman who rescues her. Best friends who realize they mean so much more to each other. A romance author and a bookstagrammer with a marriage of convenience that changes everything. A fake dating scheme between old friends that is not really fake at all. A new business owner that is surprised by feelings for an old enemy. And hockey’s bad boy falling for his friend’s little sister. Through them all we get swoony kisses, surprising declarations of love, minimal misunderstandings, sizzling chemistry, beautiful happy endings and all the bonus epilogues (I love those!). I loved every story and getting to know these fantastic characters. Every romance is unique and offers us so many fun tropes: celebrity romance, fake dating, hockey romance, best friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, falling for your best friend’s sibling and more. This is every romcom lover’s dream series!

I loved this series and think its a perfect addition to your fall reading life. It was a treat to read some new books from favorite authors and to meet some new authors. I have definitely added several series to my TBR so I can experience more from these authors! I love these sweet romcoms!
