Blogging Extravaganza: Dream Fictional Vacation

Welcome back to another round of Get Up Offa That Slump: A Blogging Extravaganza hosted by Rachel at Beauty and the Bookshelf! Today’s prompt is plan a trip to your favorite fictional places (on an unlimited budget, of course!) This is potentially my favorite prompt ever.

blogging-extravaganza

While there are about a million places I would love to go in fiction, I picked some of my all time favorites for this incredible trip of my dreams (and also only in my dreams).

Diagon Alley

I start my once in a lifetime journey at The Leaky Cauldron and exploring the shops of Diagon Alley–especially the Weasley brothers’ joke shop. I have plenty of wizard gold from my vault in Gringotts (I am a witch afterall) so I can buy anything my little heart desires. I eat the best ice cream of my life at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, enjoy browsing books (and maybe meet a famous author or two) at Flourish & Blotts, ohh and ahh at all the brooms at Quality Quidditch Supplies, and of course meet all my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series.

The Night Circus, London, England

It’s my lucky day! The Night Circus happens to be in town tonight, and I get to explore its incredible magical tents–taking extra time at the ice garden, cloud tent, and wishing tree. Wearing my red scarf (of course), I experience the food, the sites, the clock, the illusionist’s act, the bonfire, the smells, and the emotions of this incredible place.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

I have to catch an early train at Platform 9 3/4 to Hogwarts! Since this is the perfect vacation, I get to study at Hogwarts for a whole year. Taking all the classes that most intrigue me–transfiguration, charms, potions (taught by Professor Snape who is in fact not dead), and defense against the dark arts (taught by Professor Lupin, again, not dead). I feast with my fellow Gryffindors in the Great Hall and am a natural quidditch player too. We enjoy our holiday visits to Hogsmeade–nothing tastes quite as good as butterbeer from The 3 Broomsticks. I also get to go visit the Weasley family home, The Burrow, on school vacations. Ahh, perfection.

Narnia

I am surprised to find a wardrobe in the room of requirement that leads to a beautiful wood with a lamp post burning brightly. I have found Narnia! I travel to the seaside palace–Cair Paravel where I spend weeks in the company of the 4 kings and queens of Narnia during their reign of peace. I meet the beavers, Mr Tumnus, and all their talking animal friends. We save Narnia from the threat of the White Witch. Perhaps, I will even get to meet Aslan.

New Beijing, Eastern Commonwealth

After my adventures in Narnia, I am sent home (by Aslan) via the third era of Earth. I am invited to New Beijing to attend the wedding of Emperor Kaito to former-queen Selene of Luna. Iko gets me all dressed and fancy for the occasion. The ceremony is beautiful. Her dress is incredible. The reception is classy and the food delicious. I even get to meet Kai and Cinder, Scarlet and Wolf (he’s a little intimidating), Cress and Thorne, and Winter and Jacin. Cinder says I can come to Luna with her on a peace mission soon. So I might be extending my vacation a while longer.

What a trip! I can’t wait to go back!
