Hi, I’m Jane! I’m a book lover, a green lover, and an England lover.
Welcome to Greenish Bookshelf, my personal blog where I talk about all things books. I started this blog as a new mom in 2015 to help me stay motivated to read for me. I wanted a place to document my reading journey, a place to record my “reader lives.”
Where did my blog title come from? My favorite color has always been green. So it made sense to combine my two favorite things–green and books–in my blog’s title. One day, I hope to have an amazing, home library as awesome (and as green!) as some of these:
What kinds of books do I read? If I had to pick favorites, I would say the classics, historical romance, YA fantasy, and WWII fiction. I love the classics. Some of my ultimate favorites include Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Little Women. But I am also a big Harry Potter fan, love a beautiful romance, and enjoy a clever fantasy world. Basically, I dabble in many genres depending on what sparks my interest from day to day. Check out my full list of reviews here.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading along with me. Thanks for stopping by!

Dear Jane, thanks for being a recent WordPress subscriber to The Emerald City Book Review. I wanted to let you know that I won’t be posting any more to ECBR – after seven years I’m moving over to my “other blog,” Entering the Enchanted Castle (enterenchanted.com). If you don’t already follow me there, I hope you will!
All the best to you for 2021, and stay creative…

Hi Jane! My name is Aya, and I am a fellow book blogger (we talked briefly a few days earlier, on one of your posts). I was wondering if you’d be interested in participating in a small project that I am doing. I wanted to ask a bunch of bloggers (49, to be exact :p), to give me one of their favorite book quotes. I’m going to compile them all in one post and then post it on my blog on the 22nd of this month. It’d be fantastic if you would be a part of this. Just let me know by this Sunday, please, so that I have plenty of time to compile and/or ask someone else. Thank you!
P.S. You are the 19th one to be asked!

Awesome 🙂 It’s Monday, but I can still squeeze you in! Oh, and this is really it. Just send me a quote you really like either from a book, or about a book. At the end, just write the source and you’ll be done!
