Top 10 Tuesday: Favorite Historical Romances

Hi y’all! Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! Today’s prompt is a genre freebie (Pick a genre and build a list around it. It could be a list of favorites, a to-read list, recommendations for people interested in reading books in that genre, “if you like this, try this”, etc.).

I decided to share some of my favorite historical romance novels. These are all fantastic reads with swoony heroes, intelligent and witty heroines, and beautiful & clean romance. I’ve included links to my reviews as well. Enjoy!

Hawthorne House Series by Kristi Ann Hunter // I absolutely adore this whole series from Kristi! Each book follows a Hawthorne sibling as they find love and happiness in their marriages. My favorite is probably book 3 but I could read all of these on repeat!

Becoming Lady Lockwood by Jennifer Moore // I recently read this one for the first time and it quickly found a place among my favorites. Set primarily on a naval ship during the Napoleon War, this love story is beautiful and intense. A must read!

The Hesitant Heiress, The Everstone Chronicles by Dawn Crandall // Another series that I absolutely adore! These historical romances follow the love stories of the Everstone siblings. Set in and around 19th century Boston, these romances are absolutely fantastic! My favorite is book 3 (again!) but all of them are amazing!

The Lancaster Family Series by Sarah M. Eden // I have recently discovered the amazing historical romance world of Sarah M Eden, and I am hooked! I devoured all 5 of these books. I don’t know if I could pick a favorite! I have also read the first book and novella in Sarah’s Huntresses series which are equally fantastic. Next on my list from her is the Jonquil Brothers series!

Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson // This is really the first historical romance I ever read and is still one of my absolute favorites! It’s just beautiful start to finish. I reread it every couple of years and love it ever more every time!

The Belle of Belgrave Square, Belles of London Series by Mimi Matthews // I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC last year and it’s incredible! The second book in Mimi’s Belles of London series, this story had so much swoony romance and some fantastic Beauty and the Beast vibes. I can’t wait to continue in this series!

Beyond the Lavender Fields by Arlem Hawks // I loved this historical romance set in France during the French Revolution. The history is fascinating and the romance is lovely. Arlem has become a favorite author of mine in recent years. I recommend all her books!

The Lady of the Lakes by Josi S. Kilpack // I enjoy so many of Josi’s historical romances, but I think this is my favorite. It’s part of her series about famous historical author love stories. This one follows the love story of Sir Walter Scott and I loved it! I hope to one day see more of Scotland, in part because of the beautiful imagery in this novel.

The Nabob’s Daughter by Jess Heileman // This book is absolutely incredible! I read it in early 2022, and it was one of my favorites of the whole year. A beautiful historical romance connecting Imperial India and Regency England.

The Sisters of Sea View by Julie Klassen // It is a little shocking that this was my first and so far only Julie historical romance! But I loved it so much that I definitely want to read more! I loved this novel set in a small seaside Regency England village. And the appearance of a few Jane Austen characters was also so fun!

A Captain for Caroline Gray by Julie Wright // Another great historical romance set on a naval ship. In this novel, Caroline Gray takes a journey to India to marry a man she has never met. But the journey does not go as planned. A beautiful story!

The Blue Orchid Society series by Jennifer Moore // I love this series from Jennifer Moore. It follows the stories of a group of friends who call themselves the Blue Orchid Society. Each member of the society has a unique life dream that they set out to accomplish in their book. And of course, they find love as well. Set in Victorian England, I love the positive friendships and beautiful romances of these books!

What a fun list to put together! I love historical romance!
What are some of your favorites?

      1. You’re welcome, Jane. I’ll be honest here; I can’t seem to pass up a historical fiction book that looks fascinating to me. I have so many physical copies of books but still can’t stay off of NetGalley . 🙂
