[Top 10 Tuesday]: Books that Made Me Want to Read More Like Them

Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week’s prompt is books I loved that made me want to read more like them. It’s a bit of a mouthful but a fun list to put together.

I was surprised how easily I thought of books that have inspired me to read more like them. I often read in spurts of genres so this was fun. Definitely been adding to my TBR with this prompt. I included more details about what each book inspires me to read more off below. Hope you enjoy!

Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds // More books by Jason Reynolds

Sweep: The Story of a Girl and Her Monster by Jonathan Auxier // More books set in Victorian England for middle grade readers

Isabelle and Alexander by Rebecca Anderson // More historical romances set in Victorian England

The Rise and Fall of Mount Majestic by Jennifer Trafton // More stand alone fantasy novels to read aloud

Unequal Affections by Lara S Ormiston // More Jane Austen inspired books including retellings

The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis // More books by C. S. Lewis

Lady Clementine by Marie Benedict // More books about the Churchills

Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson // More WWI novels for middle grade readers

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens // More books by Charles Dickens

Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai // More refugee stories and more poetry for middle grade readers.

What books have made you want to read more like them?
Any recommendations for me?

  2. Great list! I’ve been slowly trying to read more Dickens over the past few years. My most recent was The Old Curiosity Shop, which I really liked. I’ve never read Oliver Twist (although my sister and I loved the movie version as kids), so maybe that should be next! I really loved Unequal Affections too — I haven’t come across many people who’ve read it. Jane Austen retellings are very hit-or-miss for me. There are a lot of mediocre ones, and only a few that are great — but I’m open to recommendations!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! Oliver Twist is a great Dickens novel. I haven’t read Curiosity Shop but you’ve intrigued me! 🙂 I definitely agree with Austen retellings and spin offs. Unequal Affections is one of the best I’ve read. Have you read Death Comes to Pemberley? I really enjoyed that one!
