This week’s theme is classic: Books on My Summer 2020 TBR. I love a good TBR list and it’s easy and fun to come up with some of the books I am hoping to read this summer while waiting for baby and snuggling that sweet newborn. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you, Susan! I just started Hattie and am really enjoying it thus far. The One and Only Bob was really a sweet story. Not quite as good as Ivan but it was fun to be back in that world with such delightful characters. Definitely worth the read!

  3. Hattie Big Sky is one of my favorite Newbery winners. I am looking forward to hearing what you think about it. Are you feeling on track to meet your Newbery goal? I’m… not. COVID and the lack of library access really slowed me down because I mostly have older books to read yet. Oops.

    I am also looking forward to your review of The One and Only Bob. I don’t feel like Ivan needed a sequel. I am hesitant to pick this up myself.

      I just started Hattie Big Sky and I am really enjoying it after one a few chapters. It has such a unique time period (I haven’t read much WWI literature before).

      I feel like my Newbery goals are taking a back seat to my Classics Club goals–which have a deadline of this September! So yes, I am also behind. Some of those older winners are hard to find and hard to get into 😉

      Just finished The One and Only Bob. It was a fun story but I don’t think it quite lived up to the first one. Ivan is one of my favorite Newbery winners so it’s hard to live up to those expectations. Hopefully a review coming soon 🙂

      1. That’s one of the great things I love about Hattie Big Sky. Not only is it WWI fiction, but it’s homefront WWI fiction. We get very little fiction that explores what was happening at home once America got involved in the war. Plus, Hattie’s character is wonderful. I find her to be incredibly realistic.

        Haha– Well, I’m glad that I’m not alone in that, no offense. 😉 I don’t even have The Classics Club as an excuse right now! I hope to add that once I’m done with my Newbery Quest. So, 2022 I’ll start it? Maybe? We’ll see.

        Let me know if you want to do a buddy read of a Newbery in the future!

        1. I am really getting into Hattie Big Sky! And I totally agree–it’s refreshing to read about home front WWI. I wish there was more literature from this time. It’s so fascinating.

          Haha I feel like I go through phases when I’m really on top of my challenges and then I am behind. Adding Classics Club later sounds like a good plan. I’ve got 4 to go and it’s going to be close 😉

          Would love to do a buddy read! Perhaps this fall? Baby is coming in the next few weeks so I don’t want to commit right now 🙂

            You got this with the Classics Club! Just grab some audiobook and listen to them while you’re nursing and you’ll make it. 🙂

    Well, in the middle of Anna Karenina. After that, will either start at a musical theatre history book or start a brand new series- don’t know if I will start at “A Darker Shade of Magic” or go to any of the musical theatre history books. Will be interesting to see which one I will pick
