I’m Back!

Hello dear bookish friends!

Just a quite note tonight to let y’all know that we have moved, we’re feeling more settled, and I am able to turn more attention to reading & blogging!

First, I would like to brag for just a moment about the amount of books that we moved across the country.

20 boxes of books!!

I am actually really proud of that number. And you better believe that it was an emotional experience to pack them. I am excited to find a house that has enough space for a book room!!

It feels so good to sit reading in my favorite chair in a spot near our large front window in our apartment. I’ve already gotten lost in a book a few times in the week that we’ve been here. So that is a good sign!

Here’s a quick update on what I’ve been reading and what I plan to share here the next few weeks!

I just finished North and South last night and loved it so much! Why has it taken me this long to read it? I don’t know. But I am so glad I finally did!

I read this 1945 Newbery Medal winner on a whim when my mom brought her library copy to my house. It’s a sweet story–if not a bit unrealistic for me.

What you can look forward to in the next several weeks (ie the next month) here on Greenish Bookshelf:

  • A delayed Top 10 Tuesday post about my favorite Jane Austen adaptations. And perhaps a second post about favorite classics’ adaptations more generally.
  • Reviews on several of my recently read Newbery Medal winners including Hello, Universe, The Trumpeter of Krakow & Rabbit Hill.
  • A Saturday Book List or two sharing some of my recommendations for Jane Eyre lovers and To Kill a Mockingbird lovers.

It’s good to be back, my friends! Happy reading!

  1. I wanted to enjoy North and South, but have enjoyed some of Gaskell’s other works more. There were just too many speeches. About the North. And the South. I really preferred Wives and Daughters!

Still in the middle of Pride and Prejudice, which I started a month ago. I am ready to start another book- just need to get through that book first. I can only read one book at a time.
