Happy February, my friends!

I am writing from the excitement of birthday week at our house. My husband and I both have birthdays coming soon so we are all excited to celebrate!

January was a great beginning to my reading and reviewing in 2019. I got in a great rhythm writing reviews and caught up quite a bit on them. And thanks to The Chronicles of Narnia, my reading took off this month too. Here’s what I read in January and my big plans for February!

I finished 9 books in January (including 5 from Narnia).

I started my next Classic and a book that’s been on my TBR for years (which I finished February 1st).

I hope to continue my strong start to 2019 with my February goals!

I plan to finish and review The Chronicles of Narnia. I have two more books to read in the publication order for my reread (which is fantastic BTW, definitely my favorite way to read them!)

Read my next Newbery Medal Winner. Here’s my short list.

Finish The Tempest (which I am really enjoying thus far. I’m a Shakespeare nerd!) and start my next classic. I’m thinking a little Emerson next.

Read and review a recent eARC book I’ve received.

The Shop on Peculiar Hill Cover

And a few that I’m hoping to read from the library and my shelves.

    Great historical fiction blog! I am happy I found you and I appreciate the recommendations. I am always looking for new series and trilogies to read (feels like they last longer). My first book of 2019 is a must read for anyone who loves greek mythology and strong female leads. It’s a part of a trilogy (yipppeee) and it’s called “The Winnowing” by Patrick Garner. Greek Goddesses have to return to Amerca to stop a group of scientists from quite possibly ending the world. It’s like superheroes meet mythology meet fantasy meet historical fiction (if you think mythology counts!). I could not put this book down and have told all of my avid reader friends about it.     I am reading “Villette” by Charlotte Bronte”. It is a slow read and the story is a little dark. I am half way through. I just finished read The “Ballet Series a six part. I like to read children’s and young adult books from time to time. I also read children’s books, “Hello Brooklyn’,George The Drummer Boy’ and “Clara and The Book Wagon”. I finished an Elvis Presley memento book. Wishing you and your husband HAPPY BIRTHDAY. May you have a year of happiness and blessings.

    1. Thank you so much, Marilyn! Your reading tastes sound similar to mine–stretching to several varying genres. I enjoy children’s books too! I have only read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte but I’m not surprised to hear you say Villette is bit dark. Hope it has a satisfying end!
