November Wrap-Up and December TBR

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I am so excited that it’s December. I absolutely love this time of year. We have our Christmas tree up and decorated, the lights up inside and outside the house, and have Christmas music playing in the house and in the car as much as we can. Plus we have plans to visit the Half Price Books Santa (he is the BEST with the kids and gives them a free book!), our local Christmas Village, and plenty more Christmas festivities. We are loving it!

I am pleased with how my November reading and reviewing went. I took an unplanned blogging hiatus around Thanksgiving which has me more motivated and enthusiastic coming into December. Keeping the goals realistic this month with the holidays.

I finished 4 books in November.

I started two books that I’m close to finishing.

I published reviews on 6 books meeting my goal set at the start of the month!

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
A Daring Venture by Elizabeth Camden (ARC review)
The Vicar’s Daughter and Miss Wilton’s Waltz by Josi S. Kilpack (double review)
Wrath of the Dragon King by Brandon Mull
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead

In December, I hope to finish Treasure Island and start Northanger Abbey for The Classics Club.

I only read 2 Newbery Winners last month so I’m hoping to read 3 this month.

Then I want to read plenty of Christmas books. Here’s a few of our recent favorites that we are rereading at our house:

What are your reading in December?

Merry Christmas and Happy Reading!

  1. I’m reading a bunch of “trashy” romance and young adult books to 1) unabashedly boost my numbers closer to 60 which is my usual average; and 2) give me a reprieve from the absolute tome I’m reading about the 2008 financial crisis, Crashed:How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World (which is fascinating, just a bit dreary). Happy December!

    1. Hahaha. Okay first of all, I do the same thing with historical romances and middle grade fiction!! And I’m reading all the Newbery Winners in the next few years which are usually shorter than the average. Glad you’re enjoying the change of pace. I’m up to 70 books finished this year which is actually quite a bit above my average. It’s exciting!

  2. You had a great November, Jane! Congrats on writing and publishing 6 book reviews! You did much better than I did when it came to book reviews. XD I’m trying to get one published a week, but I cannot seem to keep up with writing reviews as quickly as I am reading books. Oops!

What fun Christmas books! Will you plan to review any of these? Perhaps all together? It totally counts. 🙂

  3. Happy to hear that you took some time off blogging and came back refreshed! Since my fall was super crazy, I was very absent in October and November. With the winter season upon us, I should have more time for blogging!

I am focusing on reading some backlog ARCs in December. I am also reading a Christmas-y novel called Seven Days of Us for my book club. I am not one to typically read Christmas-y types of books, but it might be a nice change of pace.
