Happy November, my friends!

I am so excited to be officially in November. Today it was actually brisk outside (we needed coats!) so I celebrated with homemade chili for dinner and I may have broken out the Christmas music a bit too. I love this time of year, and I love that it’s finally starting to feel like fall too!

October was a busy month visiting family. But I did read 5 books.

I reviewed 5 books.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall (arc review)
Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos
Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

I am excited to have a great reading month in November! My main goal to catch up a bit on reviews. I want to publish at least 6 reviews this month (and I have about that many to do without finishing the 4 books I am currently reading!)

Finish my current classic (Treasure Island) and start my next one (one of the next two here).

Read 3 Newbery Medal Winners. I’m a bit behind on my goal. So I hope to make up a bit of ground this month! These are on the top of my list. Currently doing a buddy read of When You Reach Me with the lovely Jackie from Death by Tsundoku!

And, as always, I have several books I’m reading for various other reasons. Hoping to finish these this month too!

  1. Okay our reading tastes are the SAME. “The Vicar’s Daughter” is one of my favorites (even though it destroyed me emotionally). Regency romances are the best!

    I am so excited to read your reviews for “A Man Called Ove” and “Girl, Wash Your Face,” they’re both on my list!

    I hope that you like “North and South”! Elizabeth Gaskell is one of my favorite classic authors. When you’re done, you have to treat yourself to the movie…Richard Armitage is so fine 😉

      I love everything Josi Kilpack writes—I think I liked Miss WIlton’s Waltz even more than The Vicar’s Daughter. But yes–so emotional! Love regency romances in general. Have you read Edenbrooke? It’s my favorite 🙂

      LOVE the BBC adaptation of North and South! YES, Richard Armitage is fantastic in that one 😉 That adaptation is actually my inspiration for reading the novel!

  2. Read along!!! I am super excited about what we’ve read so far, and we’re pretty good about keeping in touch, which is awesome. It’s not often that I am this consistent with my reading partner. ❤

    Those are some great Newberys for this month! I also have to play some catch up. My book clubs have selected HUGE books the last few months, so I'm struggling a bit with staying on top by my Newbery goal. Thank you for helping keeping me on track!

    I wish you all the best with this month's reading and reviewing. At least you're only behind 6 reviews. I'm now behind by 40+. I think I'll just… pick and choose what I review. XD

      1. I have thought about mini reviews in a single post, however I have a plugin which creates my book review archive for me. If I combined multiple reviews into a single post, it won’t be able to do the auto-magical work to create my archive. Which makes the question: Am I willing to give up or manually create an archive in order to write mini reviews? While it will definitely help, it might not matter in the end. We shall see.

        I might just need to determine what I prioritize writing and what I give up on when it comes to reviews. Who says I need to review EVERY book I read? 😉

        1. Oh technology….so helpful and yet so complicated 😉 That’s neat you have a plugin that makes your archive. I bet that saves you some time! I should do that. Ha!

          Totally don’t have to review everything you read. Sometimes, it’s nice to just read to read, right? 🙂

  4. Hi, Jane! I haven’t been over here in ages. Last I was here you were doing the Anne of Green Gables read along, and you are about to have a baby! Sorry I haven’t been around. Your forthcoming nonfiction book, Girl, Wash Your Face, is one that I saw his up for a Goodreads award. I hope it’s good and not just about women keeping their faces nice, LOL.

    1. Hey there! Great to see you around here again! Can you believe that my baby is one and just about walking?! Time flies! I have enjoyed Girl, Wash Your Face so far. It’s a mix of a memoir/self care/inspiration book. I enjoy her voice and many of her tidbits of wisdom.
