Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! I am throwing it back a couple weeks today to the first October topic this year: Longest Books I’ve Ever Read. I have read some long ones lately so it was fun to look back at all that I’ve read. Enjoy!
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling
Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage
The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
What is the longest book you’ve read?
I love the “throwback”, even if it is only a few weeks back in time. XD
I think it’s super interesting how many of these lists I’ve read with the same books. It seems like the most popular fantasy series are the ones constantly making the top 10. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are on many of these lists! I skipped this one, as all my books came from Harry Potter or The Wheel of Time. Not a very interesting list.
Which of these books is your favorite? And yes, you must pick one.

Haha, Harry Potter totally counts as a long read! Definitely read the HP books on this list fastest. Ha!
And oh you’re cruel to make me pick just one 😉 My gut response is Les Mis. It’s long but it’s also complex, fascinating, and truly a masterpiece. If you’re going to read one long classic, read that one 🙂

I appreciate your thoughtful feedback! Les Mis really intimidates me, but that’s okay. I need to be pushed sometimes, that’s for sure. 🙂 If I only read books which made me comfortable I’d never learn!

It is definitely intimidating–but worth the intensity! Amen to that 🙂

I think the longest book I’ve read might be Anna Karenina … or maybe it just FELT like the longest book in the world LOL!

I think War and Peace and I have Les Mis waiting on my challenge list! I once saw a film of Little Dorrit that was 6 hours long! It was very good!

Nice! I love that we have so many in common! Was it the BBC adaptation of LD? If so, I love that film! So well done!

No it was an actual film at the cinema! You saw the whole story from LD’s point of view then had a break and then the whole thing again from Mr. Clennam’s point of view – it was a marathon. I’ve never seen or heard of it again but I do remember it being very good and very cleverly done. It was shown at a small independent screen, that was prepared to give the whole day over to one film! I loved the BBC adaptation too!

Les Miserables is probably the longest book I’ve ever read. Then maybe Gone With the Wind.
War and Peace is on my TBR, but I’m not sure I’ll ever settle down to tackle that one!

I relied on the musical to help me read the book. When I recognized a scene that represented a song- I wrote in the song. It took me a little less than 3 months to finish. I read the entire book- the unabridged- not skipping anything. My obsession for the musical is why I read this book
