Hi y’all!

Can you believe we are in August already? I certainly can’t. This summer is going by fast. We are excited for our big trip to Disneyland this month! Hopefully I can get a little reading in around all the rides and character meetings 😉

July was a great reading month for me! I finished 9 books.

I’m halfway through The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien and I am remembering all the reasons I love LOTR! I also started The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron and am loving reading a new novel from her.

I reviewed 6 books.

Little Dorrit, parts 3 & 4 and Little Dorrit, full novel by Charles Dickens
Five Days in Skye by Carla Laureano
The Penderwicks at Point Mouette by Jeanne Birdsall
Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
Savvy by Ingrid Law
Five Children and It by E. Nesbit

August Goals: I’m trying to keep my expectations a bit smaller in August with our trip. But it’s hard to not have high reading goals, right? 😉

Finish The Fellowship of the Ring. And hopefully start The Two Towers.

Read an unread book I own. Hopefully one or both of these:

Start my next classic–one of these two:

And, as always, a few I hope to read just because:

  2. The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron! I’ve had my eye on that one since it came out. I LOVED The Butterfly and the Violin and A Sparrow in Terezin! Wasn’t a huge fan of The Illusionist’s Apprentice though.

    It’s been YEARS since I read Girl with the Pearl Earing, but I do remember loving it. Enjoy!

  3. Disney!!’ How exciting! I hope you all have a blast! How long will you be down there? What are you most looking forward to?

    My kids lit book club is reading The Five Children and It this month. I am quite excited. I just started book 2 of The Raven Boys and I have a YA ARC I’m reading, Perfect Harmony. I Poe we both have awesome August’s!

    1. We are so excited! We’ll be in CA for a week with three Disney days. I think I’m most excited to see my kids meet the characters–it will be so real for them! 🙂

  4. Girl With a Pearl Earring is good. I’ve read most of her books and like them all.

    I’m currently reading a Sharon Bolton thriller which kept me up last night because I didn’t want to put it down! I’ll be reading a graphic memoir next for my book group called The Best We Could Do about a young woman’s experiences escaping Vietnam in the 1970’s with her family and then settling into a new life in America. I’ll also be reading my Classics Club book, West With the Night by Beryl Markham.

    Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight and The Assassin’s Blade oh and Spare and Found Parts .. there are other books but I haven’t chosen the rest yet oops!

    I finished “The Magician’s Nephew” Book one in “The Chronicles Of Narnia”. I just started book two “The Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe”. I never had read them and I am enjoying the books so far. Congratulations on all the books you finished. Have a good time in Disneyland.

    Been reading the same book since I got back from university: I graduated in May. Been reading Nicholas Nickleby: been reading at a pace I feel comfortable: don’t have to read as if I have to read by the beginning of the school year due to graduation so can expand the deadline. I am more than halfway done with that book though.

        NN feels like it will remember end though. Once I finish, I will commit much more to the book I am writing: I took a break to try to develop characters more. I soon realized it is hard to read and write a book at the same time.

        So after NN, will go back to writing my book

            Especially in NN.

            My book first got inspired six yrs ago. Never thought I would be writing it. I always had been a storyteller; never believed I would think about writing any of them. This one is going to be a chapter book with illustrations here and there. My blog and I am glad I did this has a breakdown of the book.
