Hi everyone and welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl!
This week’s theme is a fun one: Series I’ve Given Up On/Don’t Plan to Finish (Submitted by A Book and a Cup). (Feel free to switch this to Series I’d Like to Finish Someday) I decided to split this in half.
- First, 5 series that I want to finish.
- Second, 5 series that I’ve abandoned.
Enjoy!
Series I Plan to Finish:
The Penderwicks Series by Jeanne Birdsall
The Mother Daughter Book Club Series by Heather Vogel Frederick
MacDonald Family Trilogy by Carla Laureano
The Time Quartet by Madeleine L’Engle
The Shoe Books Noel Streatfeild
Series I have Abandoned for Now:
Anna and the French Kiss Series by Stephanie Perkins
Matched Series by Ally Condie
The Land of Stories Series by Chris Colfer
Waverley Family Series by Sarah Addison Allen
The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner
What series are you still working on?
And which have you decided not to finish?
Hi Jane. Cool idea for a post! (And since I love green, how could I resist your blog?) Hugs.

Ah yes, I recall your review of Anna and the French Kiss; I’m not surprised to see you’re abandoning it. There are quite a few series I have given up on- none are ones you’ve selected! I love how diverse our reading tastes are. You always give me something new to consider.

Haha! I remember you commenting on it. Just not my cup of tea, I suppose. Yes, I love it too! I think we broaden each other’s scope in reading 🙂

I always thought the Penderwick’s looked like a fun series. And Maze Runner- I don’t know if I’m ever going to tackle those, I’ve seen the first two movies but I don’t know…

Read the Penderwicks NOW. Seriously, one of my favorite series recently. I’ve read 3 so far and they are all fantastic!

Oh my goodness! I have read Five Days in Skye–LOVED it!! But my library doesn’t have book 2. Seriously, I need to buy it now. And yes!! It took me a while to figure out that it hadnt actually been released yet!

I loved Ballet shoes but never read any of the other shoe books either – want to try theatre shoes, think that’s the one where the fossils show up again 🙂

I loved it too! All the more because I first read it after watching “You’ve Got Mail” which is one of my favorite movies period. 🙂 I would love to read more–and would love to get more about the fossils! 🙂

Land of Stories is the most recent series I have been working on. Been working on it for more than one year. Love this children’s fantasy series. Last week got the last book. ‘
Funny thing, the book I am writing is a children’s fantasy. My book focuses on Fairy Frogs and Toads.

I loved the first Land of Stories–so clever and fun fantasy. But I felt like the second one was just the same with a slightly different quest? So for now, I’m not continuing. Which is your favorite??

I have no idea. Each are basically a different quest, but they all are connected. But I do love fantasy and fairy tales.

I LOVE the first Matched book, but I didn’t think the later ones were as good, personally! Out of curiosity, how many have you read and what made you decide to abandon the series?

I actually have just read the first one. I felt like it was a bit too convenient. She just happens to see the face of someone else who shes never really thought about seriously before and she just happens to fall in love with him. It was too easy for me.
That’s too bad the rest of the series wasn’t as good for you! I hate when that happens!

Totally fair! I loved the Dylan Thomas poem reference though. And yeah, I feel like that happens a lot for me but oh well! 🙂

I did love that Thomas poem too! That was fun! Some books you just don’t click with, right? 🙂
