Bookish things of late

Hello dear bookish friends!

I am currently on a vacation to visit family. And I feel like I’m neglecting my blog a bit. So I thought I would share a few bookish updates with you.

My next review will be on A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay. For me, Katherine is a master storyteller who fuses classic literature and great food in this novel about finding true love and loving yourself.

I am currently reading Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard. Yes, as a historical biography of sorts this is way outside my usual genre. But it is absolutely fascinating! Can’t wait to share more thoughts!

Next up is Anne of Ingleside by L. M. Montgomery as part of the #AnneReadAlong2017. So excited to continue Anne’s story in book 6!

And so far on my trip, we have been gifted nearly 10 books! My mother in law found an inexpensive copy of a biography I’ve wanting for months. And my grandma  offered us our pick of her collection of church books as well. Plus. there are at least 2 bookstores I want to check out. It’s going to be tricky to get all these home! Anyone else literally feel like it’s Christmas when you get new books?

What are you reading now?
What books have you added to your collections lately?

  1. 10 new books! Wow! That’s super exciting. I love it when I get any book mail, let alone something like this— 10 whole new books! Are these all books from your TBR, or are they just adding to the pile? 😉

I love it when I read a book outside my comfort zone and I enjoy it! There’s nothing like a new adventure. I can’t wait to read your review.

    Enjoy your vacation!!

    1. Thanks so much, Jackie! What is is about vacation that makes me just want to read and not review? 😉 Just finished Destiny of the Republic and it really is fascinating!

10 new books–some on the TBR and some my husband wants to explore and some that are now on the TBR. How does that continue to grow so fast? 😉

Hoping to be more regular in my blogging again post vacation! Also I just started Anne of Ingleside and it’s delightful

      1. Pft. I totally can relate to only reading on vacation. Writing reviews requires quite a bit more focus and attention on my part. I much prefer to only read on vacation. But, don’t tell my blogger friends. That said, I do occasionally take days off to purely get “caught up” on my blogging. (Are we ever caught up? Who knows….)

I’m so glad you like Anne of Ingleside! I will admit, I haven’t picked it up yet– I’m sooo behind on book club books. This will totally be a last minute read for me. O_o

  2. Hope you’re having a great vacation! Yay for reading outside of your comfort zone – and enjoying it!

I just started Anne’s House of Dreams, about 40 pages in, and so far it’s great, as I expected. I’m going to finish it and hopefully get my post written by the end of the week!
