For my birthday this year, my husband gave me some book buying money–which is basically the perfect gift. So just about every Saturday, we head to a different Half Price Books where I roam the entire store and find a few new treasures. And my sweet husband chases our toddler around the store and keeps her from carrying all the books around. She loves books like her mama! It’s basically the best.
I am really into growing my personal library lately. And that often means buying books I have already read and loved. Isn’t owning books the best?
Here are my most recent finds.
A few classics:
Middlemarch by George Eliot
Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
A few children’s favorites:
Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Some favorite Christian fiction:
With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden
The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron
A Sparrow in Terezin by Kristy Cambron
Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay
A favorite Pulitzer Prize winner:
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
A NY Times Bestseller (that I haven’t read yet):
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly
What books have you added to your collection lately?
Mmmm, looks wonderful! What a great husband you have — giving you book money as a birthday gift AND being willing to watch a toddler so you can enjoy the bookstore.
Hmm. I bought a few books online recently, but the only ones that have arrived so far are “Corral Nocturne” by Elisabeth Grace Foley (western retelling of Cinderella that I like a lot) and “Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer” by Jane Brocket (a cookbook full of treats mentioned in classic literature!!!). Still on their way are “The Man in the Box” by Mary Lois Dunn (YA book about the Vietnam War I loved as a teen) and biographies of actor Ben Johnson and actress Myrna Loy. Can’t wait to get them and… add them to my TBR shelves, I expect.

Thanks so much! It’s true–he spoils me! 🙂 Ok “Corral Nocturne” sounds adorable and that cookbook sounds so cool! I need to check them both out. I’m always adding to my TBR–it’s just inevitable that it grows faster than we read, right? 🙂

“Corral Nocturne” is really cute — I read it as an e-book and was so excited that she’s put out a print version too now! It’s a novella you can just gobble up in an hour or two, very light and enjoyable.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, the TBR list and my TBR piles grow and grow and grow. At this point, I’m just hoping I’ll have a chance to read all the books I own before I die!!!

Fantastic haul!!!
I’ve read a few of these: Ella Enchanted, The Butterfly and the Violin, A Sparrow in Terezin and Hidden Figures.
I am actually attending a book festival in the middle of April that Kristy Cambron is going to be in attendance 🙂
