Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic is….Ten Books I Picked Up On A Whim (however you decide to interpret that (bought or read or something else).

I decided to focus on books I bought on a whim. I have read some of them and others I haven’t gotten to yet. But all of them just spoke to me as I passed them on the bookstore shelves. Enjoy!

Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie // I found a darling copy of this book on the Barnes and Noble clearance shelf–win! We recently read it and my review can be found here.

1776 by David McCullough // I keep hearing about this book (and this author). But I still haven’t read it. At least now I own it!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green // This was a spontaneous buy at Costco. I had seen the movie but hadn’t thought about reading the book. Definitely worth owning!

Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne // I found this at a darling bookstore in my hometown. It’s on my Classics Club list too!

The Hemingway Book Club of Kosovo by Paula Huntley // I had a good friend in college from Kosovo so this title jumped out at me when I saw it at a local bookstore. I still haven’t read it but hope to one day!

Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt // This book is so depressing. But also so moving. I bought this on a whim when I saw it on a discounted shelf.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte // Yes, I had already read this book. Yes, I own several copies. But I had to buy the beautiful early 1900s edition I found in Europe last time I visited! 🙂

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens // Again, yes I own this book. But I haven’t ever finished it! It’s one that I am determined to read in the coming year. This edition was in a small bookstore in York, England. And I had to buy it 🙂

  2. Just came across your blog. Great list of books you’ve got here. If you liked the movie of The Fault in Our Stars, I’m certain you’ll love the book. John Green is an amazing writer, and that book is intensely quotable. I would like to read Angela’s Ashes again one day. It was a long time ago that I read it, but I remember being blown away by it. It was sad, yes, but also had me laughing hysterically in places. A Tale of Two Cities is my favourite of Dickens’s novels. Amazing book, and I would really encourage you to finish it when you get a chance. The ending is extremely inspiring. Great post! Glad I came across your blog. 🙂

    1. Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Yes, TFIOS is fantastic–book and movie. Yes–I need to reread Angela’s Ashes as well. And seriously I have high hopes to get to A Tale of Two Cities soon! I have started it several times then I get distracted elsewhere. Really want to read it! Thanks for your comment and welcome 🙂

  5. I picked up TFIOS on a whim as well back in the day xD (2 years ago maybe? idk!), it’s really a good book, you’ve gotta give that to John Green. I didn’t enjoy his other books as much as I liked this one, I think this is absolutely his best work to date. The success is well-deserved!
