Top 10 Tuesday: 10 Wishes for the Bookish Genie

Hi everyone! Fall has sure been fun and busy this year. I’m sorry I have been somewhat scattered and hard to get a hold of in the blogging world. Sometimes, life just speeds forward and I don’t think about much besides pumpkin cookies, football games, and being with family 🙂

Today I’m back with another great top 10 list as a part of Top 10 Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic is 10 wishes you would ask to a book genie. I love this topic! I broke mine down into a few sub topics: authors I wish I could meet, books I wish I could live inside or visit, and wishes about books in general. Enjoy!

Authors I wish I could meet:

JK Rowling // I just love Harry Potter and would love to hear about the process of writing it. Did she know the ending would be so fantastic? I have been to the Elephant Cafe in Scotland which is awesome.

Jane Austen // Okay, I realize this cannot actually happen. But I would love to have met the woman behind the classic novels.

William Wordsworth // This is my nerdy English self wishing for a meeting with this author. I wrote my master’s thesis on Wordsworth and would just love to hear more from the Lake District bard and how nature shaped his career.

Books I wish I could live inside or visit:

Hogwarts in Harry Potter // This series has to top the list. I would love to wander the halls, take classes, visit Hogsmeade, play quidditch, drink butter bear, and apparate!

Avonlea in Anne of Green Gables // I am rereading Anne of Green Gables now and it has reignited my desire to visit the beautiful Canadian countryside when this novel takes place. One day I hope to visit in the fall.

The Night Circus // I reviewed this fantastic novel here. You have to read the novel to truly appreciate the mystery, intrigue, beauty, and magic of the Night Circus. How I would love to experience it for myself!

The Shire and Rivendell in The Lord of the Rings // No one creates worlds quite like Tolkien (except perhaps Lewis. I would also move to visit Narnia!). The hobbits and the elves live in beautiful and classic settings. What a magical place to visit.

Wishes about books:

Have a library with a bay window in my home // A room with bookshelves on every wall, a big comfy armchair, and a beautiful bay window with fluffy pillows.

Own a bookstore // I would love to own a little hole-in-the-wall bookstore. Oh, the You’ve Got Mail possibilities 🙂

Receive one free book a week for the rest of my life // Let’s face it, I want to buy more books than I should. How about a free book every week for ever. That would be incredible!

What wishes are you asking the book genie for?

  1. I’m with you – it would be such a dream to have my own bookshop! I wished to meet JKR too! She always seems like an intelligent, witty woman that I think having a conversation with her about writing as well as other things would be so enlightening. That is, if I could form a coherent sentence around her, haha!

  2. YES THE NIGHT CIRCUS YES! I would love to visit the Cirque du Reves. How amazing would that be? It’s probably one of my favorite books of all time.

You should go to the Hobbit set in New Zealand someday. You can go on a tour of the set and see all of the Hobbit holes, eat and drink at the Green Dragon, and basically escape to Tolkien’s magical world for a few hours! (I used to work there, so sorry if it sounds like I’m advertising it.) I heard a rumor that they’re trying to reconstruct the Rivendell set in NZ as well!

A free book a week sounds very reasonable to me! Make it happen, book genie!!

I would love to receive free books with no obligation to review them every week of my life haha XD ARCs aren’t really free… I agree that I would love to enter the world of Harry Potter and Lord of The Ring. Thank goodness for the Harry Potter theme park + The Shire recreation in NZ to make the dreams somewhat achievable 😉

  4. Aw yeah! Bay windows are the beesknees! (No idea how to spell that :p) But really though that’d be awesome!

And you may want to be more specific with your last wish. What if the free book was bad or not your genre?! That’d be torture to receive a book you don’t want to read! 0.0
