Top 10 Tuesday: 10 Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

Welcome back to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! This week I’m talking about the 10 finished series that I have yet to finish. An interesting topic for sure. I am usually pretty good about reading the full series. At least, I try to be. Some of my favorite books of all time are parts of series (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Books of Bayern–to name a few). Some of these I hope to or plan to finish at some point. And others I don’t think I will ever get to. Enjoy!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer // One of my recent favorite series! I have only read Cinder thus far (see my review here). But I have the second book from the library and am excited to read the full series!

Princess Academy series by Shannon Hale // I have gushed about Shannon Hale on my blog before. This is a great series that just had another book come out this year. I’m excited to check it out!

Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne // Did you know there are two Winnie the Pooh books out there? I’m currently reading the first one out loud to my husband as part of The Classics Club. Loving it.

The Maze Runner series by James Dashner // I’ve reviewed the original book here. I just didn’t click with the series and have no plans to finish it.

Matched series by Ally Condie // Another book that I have reviewed on the blog here. I didn’t click well with the main character. So I had mixed feelings about the book. Probably will read the sequels at some point just to know how it ends.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett // I remember reading the first several books with my dad as a kid. And then there were so many sequels that all had the same story line that I moved on to other books.

Eragon series by Christopher Paolini // I’ve tried to read this series a few times. Just can’t get into it.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman // I read The Golden Compass as a kid and loved it. But for whatever reason I haven’t read the other books in the series. Hope to return to them someday.

The Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner // I included this series because it’s one of my favorite childhood series. I don’t think I read them all. And I actually don’t know how many there are. But they are classics!

Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene // Same thing for Nancy Drew. Loved these books as a child. And read a lot of them. But I don’t think I finished them all.

I’ve only read Cinder so far too but am excited about that series. Matched the second book just lost me I’m not sure if I’ll ever make it back. And how many Nancy Drew books are there anyway? It seems like I read 40 or so in jr high! Lol.

  2. Great list! Now that you mention it, I’d forgotten that I read the 1st Matched book too. It seemed like pretty standard YA dystopia to me, and I didn’t care enough to continue. I only recently read Eragon, and I doubt I’ll finish that one either. Have you checked out the Winnie the Pooh poetry books? They’re really amazing, and I read these to my kids from the time they were babies onward. 🙂 I did love the Dark Materials books, and thought The Subtle Knife was just amazing. The Amber Spyglass isn’t perfect, but the ending just blew me away. My TTT

I actually have not read any of these series, for shame! I do plan to read His Dark Material soon, though, as it sounds like something I would thoroughly love 🙂 Hope you get a chance to finish some of these books soon.

  4. I think I skimmed or skipped over a few of the middle books in A Series of Unfortunate Events, so I could read the end. There is a point when you find a series that’s complete and really long that you kind of give up, isn’t there?
