Top 10 Tuesday: Recently Acquired Books

Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! This week I’m sharing the last 10 books that came into my possession–bought, borrowed, gifted, whatever.

The Heir by Keira Cass // Gifted and a super fun read. I recommend the whole series.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr // Bought it for myself. Loved it. See my review here.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern // Bought it for myself after several recommendations from friends. A clever read. See my review here.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee // Bought it for book group. Even better as a reread.

The Captive Mind by Czesław Miłosz // Borrowed this one for book group. It’s one of those books that make you feel either quite bright or quite dim. More philosophical than most things I have read recently.

Everneath series by Brodi Ashton // Borrowed this series from friends. An intriguing series based on the Persephone and Hades myth and recreated in modern times. I hope to get back to review this series at some point soon.

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo // Bought with a gift card. This one is on my list of books to read before I die. I love the musical (of course) and would love to read the novel one day.

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell // Bought with a gift card. I’ve started it and have enjoyed it thus far. The BBC miniseries is one of my favorites so that inspired me to try the novel.

Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick // Borrowed from a friend. A quick and interesting read about friendship, bravery, and conquering the world no matter who you are.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini // Borrowed from a friend. Kept this book for far too long, started it, didn’t finish it, finally gave it back a few weeks ago.

What have you picked up recently?

I’m going to reread TKAM really soon. I TOTALLY NEED TO. It’s been like years since I read it and it’s incredible and fadksjl I’m really excited (and freakishly nervous) for the sequel/prequel. 0_0 But we shall see, hehe. XD I want to try the Night Circus someday too!!
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

  3. What a fantastic list of books acquired! The Les Mis soundtrack is divine and has me desperately wanting to see the Broadway play and read the book. It’s on my reading bucket list as well. All the Light We Cannot See was darker than I expected and yet filled with a subtle hope for mankind ~ I hope you enjoy it!

I just recently started reading Everneath. So far it’s good. I can’t wait to read All The Lights We Cannot See. And To Kill A Mockingbird is always great no matter how many times you read it. 🙂
